Beyond the Screen:
Enhancing In-Person Sessions with Digital Tools

What Wasn’t Working: Missing the Full Potential of Digital Tools

I love doing therapy in person and have always had success engaging my clients with  my favourite games, stories, drawing exercises, and pretend play. However, I noticed that many of my clients were drawn to technology, whether it was playing games, journaling or creating digital art. I wondered, instead of seeing screens as distractions, what if I could use them as a tool for deeper engagement and connection? What if digital tools could help my clients express themselves?

A New Approach with PlaySpace: Bringing Digital Tools In-Person to  the Therapy Room

That’s when I started using PlaySpace’s digital tools, like the 3D Dollhouse,  Sand Tray, and AI Storybook Builder in my in-person sessions. I was amazed at how quickly they became a natural part of my work and increased engagement with my clients. Now, I can:

  • PlaySpace’s digital tools, like the 3D Dollhouse and Sand Tray, help clients express their feelings creatively in ways traditional materials can’t, making them feel more in control

  • The AI Storybook Builder lets clients create or co-create stories from scratch, providing a fun, creative way to explore emotions and share experiences.

  • Using digital tools in therapy makes sessions more engaging and familiar, as many kids and teens are already comfortable with technology.
